You may have followed our Real Brides page, well now enjoy the latest #FRIDAYFEATURE – a recent series of blog posts where we share our brides’ stories in more detail. If you’re thinking of coming to visit us, this is a great insight into the experience of becoming an Ivory Secret bride!

We hope you enjoy the bridal inspiration that is Hollie’s story…

Q1: Which designer or style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?

I went for Catherine Deane separates – I didn’t have any particular designer in mind but when I tried on the pieces they just felt like ‘the one’ for me. I liked the simple elegance as I don’t like a huge amount of detail or pattern etc in my clothing. The pieces were simple and elegant, then with the detailed top over the bodice – I felt very bridal.

Q2 : Did you buy any accessories from us? If so, what were they?

I bought my shoes from The Ivory Secret – which I still love and got a lot of compliments on them on the day.

Q3 : How did you feel in your outfit on the big day?

I felt very comfortable in my outfit all day, including the shoes which was a big bonus. Most importantly I felt really special in it, there was no doubt for me I’d absolutely made the right choice, it was exactly what I wanted.

Q4 : How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Six I think.

Q5 : What did you enjoy most about your experience at The Ivory Secret?

I liked the personal service of The Ivory Secret – and I knew I was in safe hands if I had needed/wanted any alterations. I also found the pieces available matched my style so, though there was a clear winner, I would have felt happy in almost anything you had available.

Q6 : Do you have any other thoughts or feedback about your experience ?

I don’t think I can add anything to the above, except to say I would (and do) highly recommend the Ivory Secret to everyone.

Q7 : Do you have any wedding suppliers you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

My florist, Amanda Windsor, was fantastic. And I highly recommend my videographer/photographer Alan at DVX Productions.

If you’re on the hunt for your wedding dress, we have an exciting event to look forward to in the new year. We are hosting the latest Catherine Deane collection for one weekend only – the 24th & 25th of January.

As a bridal boutique carrying several designers, it would be impossible for us to stock every gown from each designer’s collection, so a trunk show is a unique opportunity for us to host a whole range of additional gowns for you lovely brides-to-be to try on. And as such, if you find your dream dress during the event, there’s a pretty good chance that no one else in Devon will be wearing the same!

Catherine Deane creates stunning wedding dresses and bridal separates, with an emphasis on beautiful embellishment, high quality fabrics, and an easy-to-wear vibe.

As usual, we expect this event to be a popular one, so we are running by appointment only. This ensures that you will have exclusive time to browse and try on the dresses, and of course our undivided attention to give you a wonderful bridal experience.

Call or email the boutique to book your appointment before they all get snapped up!

As well as our Real Brides page #FRIDAYFEATURE is a new series of blog posts where we share our brides’ stories in more detail.  Here they review their dress and shopping experience with us, and share their gorgeous photos for tonnes of bridal inspiration.

Laura had given up hope of finding ‘the one’ until she came to us and found the perfect dress to marry Dan in at their July 2019 wedding.

Q1: Which designer or style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?

Galatea, from Willowby by Watters

Q2 : How did you feel in your outfit on the big day?

I felt amazing on my wedding day. I loved the dress, the style & how it fitted me. The alterations were perfect & I felt more amazing & special than I had thought was possible.

Q3 : How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Too many to say – about 9 shops & countless dresses. By the time I got to you I’d given up on finding an amazing dress & was just aiming for feeling ‘good enough’.

Q4 : What did you enjoy most about your experience at The Ivory Secret?

The Ivory Secret has a calmness & a level of sophistication in both the approach and the collections that are offered. How comfortable I was helped to feel, the patience shown & the choice available really stands out to me. With the option of custom-made & the collections it must be almost impossible not to leave finding a dress that is utterly amazing. I really enjoyed my appointments there, they were fun, friendly, helpful & pressure-free.

Q5 : Do you have any other thoughts or feedback about your experience ?

I can’t thank you enough for all your help and patience. I’d been to about nine shops and had completely given up on the idea of finding a dream dress. Nothing was too much trouble for Eleanor. The shop and dress selection are absolutely stunning and the changes to my dress were perfect.

Q6 : Do you have any wedding suppliers you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

Alex Toze wedding photographer- the most amazing photos, fitted into our day perfectly and put everyone at ease, guests were commenting on how lovely he was.

Katherine at The Oak Barn – so lovely throughout the whole process, really friendly & was so helpful with recommendations whilst we were planning. The Oak Barn is such an amazing venue & is maintained to a 5* standard

M.Welsh Catering – the food was gorgeous and really nicely presented, Mike & Leanne were so lovely – chilled but incredibly organised & professional. We’ve had so many comments on the food.

We’ve created a series of blog posts called #FRIDAYFEATURE to tell the stories of our amazing Ivory Secret brides.

In our fifth instalment, meet the lovely Andrea who married Jade in May 2019 in a gorgeous bridal outfit selected from our bridal separates collection.

Q1: Which designer or style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?

My original choice was ‘Catherine Deane’ but upon visiting Ivory Secret, I fell in love with the idea of having Eleanor and Liz tailor my trousers to go with my corset and lace overlay (Catherine Deane’s Darla bodice & Jaren top) and I was not disappointed with the quality, style and the end product. Simply beautiful.

Q2 : Did you buy any accessories from us? If so, what were they?

Due to the Lace overlay and my overall outfit design accessories were not necessary as a final touch.

Q3 : How did you feel in your outfit on the big day?

Simply amazing, flawless, and like I could not have chosen a better design or boutique to make me feel this way on the day. I had and keep getting heaps of gorgeous comments about my outfit, everyone loved it.

Q4 : How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I went in with an idea and Eleanor made it happen, I left the boutique with the outfit design in their professional and artistic hands for it to transpire in real life exactly how I had dreamed it would.

Q5 : What did you enjoy most about your experience at The Ivory Secret?

Everything from the vintage design, to the relaxed and professional approach of Eleanor and Liz. As a self conscious bride, every doubt or worry soon vanished with the personable, eloquent and expert nature of both Eleanor and Liz.

Q6 : Do you have any other thoughts or feedback about your experience?

Please continue to love what you do as it radiates in every aspect of your work, a hidden gem in Crediton which every bride should know about.

Q7 : Do you have any wedding suppliers you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

Crown and Cotton: Florists of South Molton, Fortynine & Fifth: Hairdressers, Hazel Narbett: Cake maker and Isabelle Grace Makeup Artistry.

Lovely April chose an Annasul Y gown for her church ceremony, marrying Christopher in July 2019. ..

Q1: Which designer or style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?

I really wanted a dress that had sleeves, a low back, looked timeless and was unusual, which I definitely got as lots of the guests commented that they hasn’t seen a dress like mine. It was my winner as it ticked all of my boxes and the lace was just amazing.

Q2 : Did you buy any accessories from us? If so, what were they?

I didn’t, as my mum lent me her veil.

Q3 : How did you feel in your outfit on the big day?

I absolutely loved it, it fitted like a glove and was extremely comfy.

Q4 : How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Probably about 23! I had a vision of what I wanted and only found it at The Ivory Secret.

Q5 : What did you enjoy most about your experience at The Ivory Secret?

Eleanor is extremely friendly and not at all pushy in sales which made the process really enjoyable. She’s an expert in her field and so when I tried on my dress at my final fitting the dress fitted perfectly.

Q6 : Do you have any other thoughts or feedback about your experience ?

No just a big thank you for all of your help.

Q7 : Do you have any wedding suppliers you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

Here is the lovely Natalie, who became wife to Luke in June 2018. Her beautiful outdoor photoshoot is everything!

Q1: Which designer or style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?

Catherine Deane’s Tamsin Blush dress. For me it just felt right the moment I put the dress on. It was quite unique for a wedding dress and I thought it was something different with the blush tones. I wanted something more floaty and relaxed than fitted and tight. It was the perfect dress, so beautiful, floaty and stunning and so comfortable. I did not feel swamped in the dress at all. It really fitted the theme of our day perfectly. I felt truly amazing in the dress.

Q2 : Did you buy any accessories from us? If so, what were they?

Yes I did, my shoes were Rachel Simpson (style name Isla) They were stunning and really went well with my chosen dress. I also purchased some beautiful copper style hair slides (copper rose hair pins from Agnes Walker)

Q3 : How did you feel in your outfit on the big day?

Amazing, breathtaking, genuinely like a million dollars!

Q4 : How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Not too many actually! I think counting other dresses from other stores I think this was maybe the 6th or 7th dress but it was one of a few I tried on in my first visit to Ivory Secret.

Q5 : What did you enjoy most about your experience at The Ivory Secret?

The whole experience with Eleanor was fab. Relaxing, and having the boutique to yourself whilst trying on dresses makes the experience feel special and more intimate, you can focus and relax more without other shoppers around.

Q6 : Do you have any other thoughts or feedback about your experience ?

I love The Ivory Secret, the whole experience I received was fantastic and customer service brilliant. The experience was as I imagined it would be and should be and more. Eleanor was so lovely, helpful and really has a very thorough knowledge of all the dresses and suppliers. Just a fantastic experience.

Q7 : Do you have any wedding suppliers you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

Absolutely – lots! Catherine Deane, Rachel Simpson, all our wonderful suppliers, including the talented Mimosa Photography who captured our amazing day.

First up is our real bride Katie, who married Phil in July 2017 in a beautiful church ceremony…

Q1: Which designer or style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?

After searching for my dress I chose a delicate lace A line Annasul Y wedding gown which was the first dress I tried on! I loved the fit of the dress and the little row of white buttons that I always wanted on the back of The dress. I always wanted a slightly vintage but classic feel to my dress and it delivered on all of these!

Q2 : Did you buy any accessories from us? If so, what were they?

The Ivory Secret had everything I needed to complete the look I wanted. I choose a beautiful vintage (and just the right amount of sparkle) belt to match my cathedral veil (Joyce Jackson, Phoenix veil) and Rachel Simpson shoes (style name Mimosa) – which were fab for dancing the night away in!

Q3 : How did you feel in your outfit on the big day?

AMAZING. After some time since my last fitting, I was nervous about how the dress would look again. However, as soon as I slipped into the dress I felt a mix of emotions as I was a bride about to get married!

Q4 : How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

I can’t remember the exact number but my dress was the first I tried on. I think subconsciously I was comparing others to this dress.

Q5 : What did you enjoy most about your experience at The Ivory Secret?

My whole experience. Eleanor was truly fab in making me feel beautiful and my experience special from having tea in her granny’s tea cups to helping my mum also find accessories for her dress.

Q6 : Do you have any other thoughts or feedback about your experience ?

Only that I wish I could do it all again! I’ve been lucky enough to go back as my sister has also found her dress at The Ivory Secret as well.

Q7 : Do you have any wedding suppliers you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

Rachel Simpson for her beautiful shoes.
Pynes house – wedding venue
Louise Alway – hair
Nova Photography
Amy Peters – make up
Poppy’s flower studios
